DXF to the CNC: what comes out and how to set it
The developed pattern as line work for the plasma or the laser, with the holes and the kerf the way your table wants them. Workshop.

What the file is
- The flat pattern as line work: the true outline on its own layer, with the folds, swage lines, seam lines and holes each on theirs, so the table cuts what it should and marks the rest.
- An R2000 DXF that opens clean in AutoCAD and DWG TrueView (and the open readers), checked after a reader refused the first cut of it.
- Kit fittings come out as every piece; a gored head as the one gore with CUT n OFF on the sheet.
The export sheet
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Holes | Cut circles of the diameter you type, centre marks (a 6 mm cross) for the drill, or none |
| Hole size | The circle diameter when you cut them |
| Kerf | Pushes every closed cut outline out by half the torch width, mitred at the corners, so the part comes off the table at size |
The sheet remembers what you set for the next export.
Where it fits
DXF export is on the Workshop licence (from 27 Oct 2026; anyone who bought Pro before then keeps it). The pattern is the same one the printer gets, so prove the free elbow on paper first and the DXF will match it.
Since 4.80 the app can nest every piece on your sheet size before it writes the DXF. The table’s own CAM still does the cut order and the lead-ins: the app writes geometry, never G-code.
